TRANSYLVANIAN STANDARD (Proposed in WCF)
GENERAL
A natural breed found in the Carpathian Mountains and bordering lowlands of Eastern Europe. The cats present with a very pale colour on the extremities and a ‘salt and pepper’ (roan) affect over the body; the pattern is known as the Carpati pattern. The coloration is inherited as a recessive variant the causal gene(s) and variant(s) are not yet identified.
BODY

Of foreign type, the body is of moderate length and elegant. Well-muscled but without any heaviness, medium in weight, the cat can appear more robust due to the density of the fur. The bone structure is slender and the muscles powerful.
Legs: Relatively high on legs, slender boning.
Paws: Rounded.
TAIL
Thick at the base, of medium length, tapers to a rounded tip.

HEAD
Modified wedge with slightly rounded contours on the upper part of the head. Longer than broad. Profile slightly concave, no bump or stop. Firm chin. Pronounced muzzle with whisker break.

Broad at the base, medium in size, following the contours of the head, erect; slightly rounded tips, light grey furnishings desirable.

EYES
Medium in size, oval, slightly oblique, colour ranges from yellow to deep orange preferred, hazel is accepted.

COAT
Short with a slight lift, undercoat very soft and dense, guard hairs coarse. The contrast varies from very light grey (almost white) to grey. Contrast coloration appears on the legs, paws, the ears, in the mask and the tail. On the body it appears ‘salt and pepper’ (roan) hair. The complete colour in not finished until at least a year old. A white locket is allowed on chest or belly only. Pale ear furnishings and whiskers desired. Pattern presumed heat sensitive.
Kittens are born with very pale colouring, paw pads and nose leather clearly indicating black or blue-grey colour, the body colour starts to develop approximately at the age of 2 months and the contrast starts on the ears, nose, paws and the tip of the tail. The light grey pattern continues slowly to develop until adulthood.
